Snow!

It was supposed to be a blizzard yesterday, and four storms were supposed to hit right  over us.  But because of stinky Utah weather, the wind didn’t blow fast enough and the clouds were mostly snowed out by the time they got to us.  So, out of the blizzard we got about two inches of snow.

People were so worried about the storm that they let some of the teachers that lived in Orem go home early, because it was supposed to hit fifteen minutes after school got out.  This was extremely funny because it didn’t hit until about seven thirty.

Mark and I started building a  snow fort early this morning but it didn’t work very well because the snow is really dry.  So we wandered into the bark yard and had a snowball fight.  Since the snow was so dry it wouldn't pack we had a snow powder fight.  It was pretty fun, until Mark got cold and went inside.

Tonight we are going up to Salt Lake for a pie party, so I hope that all the snow got poured down on Salt Lake so we can have some fun up there.

Friday Field Trip

On Friday we went to the Clarke Planetarium for a field trip.  We had tons of fun, but the best part was that Dad was one of the parent helpers!  I was in a group with a bunch of my friends and Dad got to be our group leader.IMG_2330IMG_2343Here are some fun things I learned.  If there was a big enough swimming pool Saturn would float because its density is lighter than water.   A solid rocket is about eight feet in diameter.  Here’s a pictures of the solid rocket with my friends.IMG_2356Meteorites are often funny shapes because they get so hot in the air that they explode, and then the wind, while it is still extremely hot, rounds the corners and makes it funny shapes.
After we looked around a little we went into the Dome Theater for a star show about the moon and the seasons. Did you know that the earth is farthest away form the sun in the summer, not the winter?  It sure doesn't feel like it!IMG_2359We got to go on a space roller coaster, and man was it cool!  I told Dad that when I got to heaven that I would ask Heavenly Father if I could get one of my own, but Dad said that I wouldn't need one because I would have my own world.
While we were waiting for the movie to start we all sat down and played Down By The Banks; Dad even joined us.  We had a lot of fun and it was good for passing the time.
At lunch we didn't have tables, so we used the lunch crates that dad was carrying and made a great little picnic table, which was much better than the ground.

Leadership Conference

On Wednesday our student council got to go to a leadership conference.  We had some great talks on how we could increase our leadership skills.  It was the best meeting  (out of church) that I had ever had.  We had great speakers like Jason Hewlett, Josh Hewlett, Verne Larson, and Brad Barton.  You are suppose to  save best for last, and so I did.  Take a few guesses and then read the next sentence.  Okay, If you guessed John Bytheway then you are right!  When I saw his name on the schedule I was SO excited!  Finally his it was time for his speech.  His was the last, so after this we were going to go back to school.  We settled back in our seats, and had a wonderful talk.  He told us the “What’s in you backpack?”  story, and my favorite, “The kidney story.”  It was funny because I had already watched his video, and at the beginning he said “Whenever I ask kids what this is (Really it is a picture of a kidney) They always say, It’s an ear!"  So when he pulled up the picture of the kidney I was able to say it’s a kidney, but I didn’t  say it loud enough, so he didn’t hear me.  Oh, well.  It was a wonderful meeting.  After it was over, I quickly asked the teacher that was with us if I could go get his autograph.  She told me I could, so one of my friend’s went with us.  There was a little swarm of kids there and he signed our papers.  I was so excited, because I had always wanted to meet John Bytheway.  On the way home we talked about it and were all so happy that we got to come.  I decided that if this was what college was like, then I wanted to get signed up quick!

November Family Letter

Today I didn't feel like writing an e-mail, so mom helped me come up with a blog, and here it is!   (click on the pictures to see them bigger!)DSC_0181 Today we went to take birthday  pictures.  Kind of late, but still fun.  We went up to Salem Pond, and man was it pretty!  There were fall leafs everywhere, and a small group of curious ducks!  One couple was throwing a ball in the pond for their dog to go catch.  In the process the dog got interested in one of the ducks, and when he got close, the duck flapped his wings furiously and got away.  It was pretty funny.
DSC_0145Some other fun things have been happening this week.  I got my glasses for one thing.  The other thing, is that we were outside for four hours yesterday taking out our cannas that we planted this summer.  The house looks so bare without them!
After we were done pulling out the cannas, it was about eight o’clock, so we decided to go out for dinner.  We went to a Mexican Restaurant and I ordered tamales.  Instead of getting a tamales, they messed up and gave me a stuffed pepper!  I decided I like it when they mess up , because then you get more rice and beans (besides the tamales, which were very good) for no extra charge!  He, he!
This Halloween we had a family party!  It was a ton of fun because it was warm and we were with people we knew the whole time.  The grownups each had a different room.  At each room we would knock on the door and say “trick-or-treat!”  Dad’s was my favorite.  He had a cootie catcher that would say things like “Give me one piece of candy and I’ll give you a two”  or “Ask for a piece of candy in Spanish.”  So I knocked on the door and said “Hola gato!”  Which means ”Hello cat!” in Spanish.  He started to act like a cat, meowing and pretending to wash his ears like a cat!  My fortune was that I had to sing If You Chance to Meet Frown while I spun in a circle.  Instead I said “If you chance to meet a kitty do not let him stay” “MEOW” “Okay okay!  If you chance to meet a frown””Meow” and so on.  It had Mommy, Grandma, and I laughing the whole time!DSC_0092 DSC_0066 This Saturday was a blast!  We my best friend, Tori, had her baptism!  We are all so excited that she did!  I really liked the talks.  Tori picked some really good speakers!  Her grandpa baptized her, and her other grandpa confirmed her.  It was a wonderful experience!
